One of the Las Pinas City judges that I recommended to the 2008 Judicial Excellence Awards of the Philippine Supreme Court has made it. Her name is Judge Erlinda ALVARO, who is the "2008 Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano Awardee (Regional Trial Court level)" and the "2008 Best Decision in Civil Case Awardee", which awards are rarely given to one and the same person. Below is my congratulatory letter to Judge Alvaro. The Judicial Excellence Award of the Philippine Supreme Court helps boost the sagging morale of judges and court personnel, especially now that the Philippine Judiciary is under siege for graft and corruption and perceptions of lack of independence from the political branches of Government. It is a worthy program that all lawyers must support.

In behalf of the Las Pinas City Bar Association, Inc. (LPBA) and the Laserna Cueva-Mercader and Associates Law Offices (LCM Law), we have the honor to extend our deepest and sincerest CONGRATULATIONS to your good self for your most recent achievements, i.e., 2008 Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano Award (Judicial Excellence Award - RTC Level) and 2008 Best Decision in Civil Case Award, as announced in our City, which awards are rarely combined in one person.
From our experience and monitoring of the local justice system of Las Pinas City, we knew from the very start that your good self deserved the said prestigious national-level awards of the Judiciary. You are a great asset of the Philippine Judiciary and a pride of Las Pinas City. May your good self continue to serve as a model and inspiration to all judges and court personnel in the country. Keep up the excellent work!
Have a blessed and liberated day. Thank you.
