As the SolGen, Calida should behave as an academician, thinker, jurist, and a man of the law, not as a thug-like political surrogate and propaganda demagogue of Duterte.

SolGen Calida's drama is an attempt to improve his standing in the eyes of Duterte as the rumored nominee of the latter to be the next Ombudsman when Justice Carpio-Morales retires in 2019.

Calida uses Duterte's dirty and unfair "name and shame" or " ad hominem" tactic by connecting the Inquirer as an independent media establishment with the business company called Sunvar Realty (defendant in the ejectment case). The latter corporation has a separate juridical or corporate personality from the former in private corporate law.

Calida misleads the public by making it appear in his rantings before the reporters that the decisions in the underlying "ejectment" case (on appeal at Rtc 141 Makati) and the related "certiorari" case (denied due course by the CA 5th Division) have attained finality.

The two cases (and the future appeals and certiorari cases arising therefrom) will surely be elevated in due time by one or both parties to the Supreme Court. The interlocking cases will take years to adjudicate with finality.

Calida should stop using the cases as a political stepping stone to play politics to secure his appointment as the next Ombudsman.

As the SolGen, Calida should behave as an academician, thinker, jurist, and a man of the law, not as a thug-like political surrogate and propaganda demagogue of Dueterte.

Calida should avoid unfair premature declarations that may poison the minds of the judges and justices who will in due time dispose of the cases with finality.
