Mandatory malpractice insurance for lawyers

In the USA, lawyers must post annual MALPRACTICE INSURANCE. Otherwise, their license would be suspended. In the PHL, there is no such requirement. Such an insurance can be very costly in the USA, depending on the trial record and reputation of the lawyer. Read the linked article below.

x x x. A fund operated by the Oregon State Bar to reimburse clients making misappropriation allegations against lawyers might need to be topped off as a result of $750,000 in claims involving a former Bend attorney.

The bar association has claims from 31 former clients of Bryan Gruetter, the Bend Bulletin (http://bit.ly/KIhyq4) reported Friday.

Seven, totaling $173,000, have been paid.
