MANILA, Philippines – The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has issued a shortlist of nominees to replace retiring Associate Justice Arturo Brion in the Supreme Court.
In its session on Friday, December 9, the JBC said it is set to submit the names of the following nominees to President Rodrigo Duterte, along with their respective votes from the council:
Rosmari D. Carandang – 6 votes
Apolinario D. Bruselas Jr – 5 votes
Jose C. Reyes Jr – 5 votes
Japar B. Dimaampao – 5 votes
Amy C. Lazaro-Javier – 4 votes
Noel G. Tijam – 4 votes
Rita Linda S. Ventura-Jimeno – 4 votes

Justice Brion will retire on December 29, 2016.
Associate Justice Jose P. Perez will likewise retire on December 14. The JBC has submitted to President Duterte 5 names for Justice Perez's replacement.
According to the 1987 Constitution, vacancies in the office of the SC associate justice must be filled within 90 days from its occurrence. – Rappler.com
