MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court is banning the traditional Bar operations within the vicinity of the University of Sto. Tomas, where the examinations will be held during the four Sundays of November.
The Bar examination last year in De La Salle University was marred by a blast that injured several of those who joined in the merrymaking.
This is the first time that the exams will be held in UST and also during November. Before DLSU, the Bar exams were conducted at the campuses of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Sta. Mesa and before that at the Manuel Luis Quezon University in downtown Manila.
Police and plainclothes agents from the National Bureau of Investigation will help maintain peace and order, Court Bar Confidant and Deputy Clerk of Court Atty. Ma. Cristina B. Layusa told a briefing for superintendents and supervisors at the SC Old Session Hall on Monday afternoon.
She also said 2011 Bar Chairperson Justice Roberto A. Abad has directed that the streets surrounding the UST campus (Dapitan St., P. Noval St., España Boulevard, and Lacson Avenue) remain open to traffic for all four Sundays.
The SC has cleared 6,200 law graduates to take the exams. This year will also feature for the first time multiple-choice questions.
